Energy Star’s Most Efficient Label: Use It To Navigate Your Next Purchase

The Energy Star label is a familiar sight for customers who are shopping for new HVAC equipment, electronics, appliances or other energy-consuming products. The Energy Star symbol is probably the most reliable indicator of an item’s energy efficiency. In 2011, the Energy Star program introduced Energy Star’s Most Efficient label, a new labeling system designed to refine the definitions of energy efficient even further.

Products with a standard Energy Star label can already be relied upon to be much more energy efficient that non-certified products. They have been laboratory tested and certified to meet strict energy efficiency standards established by the Canadian government.

The Energy Star Most Efficient label serves to further narrow the field of products that qualify for Energy Star certification. It distinguishes the specific devices, brands or models that are the most energy efficient out of an existing range of products that have already been awarded the Energy Star certification. These products have been identified as the “cream of the crop” of energy-efficient products and will use less energy for operation and save customers significant amounts of money on their fuel and electricity expenditures.

When you select a product that carries Energy Star’s Most Efficient label, you can be assured of getting the most energy-efficient item of its kind. Products that have earned this specialized label are among the top five percent of products that have already been awarded the Energy Star distinction.

Energy Star’s Most Efficient label is commonly found on:

  • Clothes washers
  • Heating and cooling equipment such as furnaces and air conditioners
  • Geothermal heat pumps
  • Televisions
  • Refrigerator-freezer combinations

With the Energy Star Most Efficient label, the Energy Star program makes it easier for consumers to choose products that will save them money while providing the best possible level of operation.
