Ever since its inception in 1992, the Energy Star logo has helped consumers quickly identify products that offer better energy efficiency. When you’re looking at a new HVAC system, this logo makes it simpler to identify cooling and heating products that will cut energy costs and consumption.
Keeping a home comfortable year-round requires a good deal of energy. The EPA estimates that a typical household spends half of its annual energy budget on staying comfortable indoors. Cutting cooling and heating bills without sacrificing comfort is the most important benefit of choosing equipment carrying the Energy Star logo, along with other tangible advantages.
- Although system durability depends on how well the new system is installed and maintained, Energy Star systems tend to last longer since they achieve greater efficiency by using higher quality components.
- Periodically, governmental jurisdictions make rebates, tax credits or other incentives available to homeowners who install Energy Star equipment.
- Energy Star HVAC systems reduce the harmful environmental impacts that power and fuel generation cause. According to the City of Calgary, most of the energy Calgarians use comes from fossil fuels, which are polluting and nonrenewable energy sources.
