Once your home is sealed, keeping the conditioned air in, energy efficiency can improve with simple actions, such as:
- Installing ceiling fans, which assist with efficiently moving cooled air throughout your home, which will result in energy savings.
- Having your equipment inspected annually, or as recommended by the manufacturer, and changing your filter every 30-60 days.
Did you know that lighting takes up 10 percent of your electric bill? Check the light fixtures and lamps in your house. Do you need all 100-watt light bulbs? Most likely not, and the downgrade to 60 or 75 watts, or an energy-efficient bulb, will save you money. And of course, when you’re not in the room, make sure the lights and ceiling fans aren’t on. Small things count.
